The Moore County Home Builders Association is proud to offer a voluntary residential green building program called “Moore Green” to our members.
The program, which is based on the National Association of Home Builder’s (NAHB) National Green Building Standard, will help builders develop more energy efficient and environmentally-friendly homes by providing them with green home building guidelines and other resources.
An emerging industry trend gaining popularity nationwide, green building will significantly affect home building and buying in North Carolina. Considering the rising prices of natural resources - now is the time to consider steps toward reducing energy bills.
Our Association is excited about the opportunity to provide our members with the necessary tools to build and market green homes to their consumers.

Our Goals Moore Green is a voluntary residential program developed by the Moore County Home Builders Association to promote and facilitate practical approaches to green construction. The program, based on the National Association of Home Builder’s (NAHB) National Green Building Standard, is designed to offer local builders information on products and building practices to help build homes to meet their buyers' diverse needs.
Our association is very excited about the opportunity to provide our members with the necessary tools to build and market green homes to their consumers. Our goals are listed as followed: • Encourage the construction of more energy efficient and environmentally sustainable homes (new construction, renovation and remodeling) • Ensure that Moore Green is acknowledged by municipalities and consumers throughout Moore County • Help builders to advance their building product to meet both consumer desires and their own business plans • Serve as an education and marketing resource for members
Benefits of Green Building Owners of green homes in North Carolina can reap various benefits, including utility savings, improved indoor air quality and less overall maintenance. By building green, homeowners will also benefit the entire community. The voluntary guidelines can be tailored to the needs of interested home buyers during the building process. Green building practices examine the potential to save energy and reduce waste, both during and after construction.
