The MCHBA meets monthly on the second Monday*. Evening meetings begin at 5:30 pm with a social and dinner at 7:00 pm. Meeting notices are sent monthly by email/fax and are announced in the monthly membership newsletter and on this web site. MCHBA members can now have increased confidence that their designs meet the latest building code requirements for a wide range of building designs. Give yourself the advantage and attend the August MCHBA membership meeting!  Our guest speaker will address wall bracing and prescriptive code provisions and how they apply to the 2009 IRC changes.

Other topics to be discussed: 

•  Wall Solutions:  Using site-built wall bracing panels for framing around garage doors, big windows, or walls with multiple windows is complex and time-consuming, and difficulties with hold downs and nailing requirements can lead to red tags.  Building straight and stable walls saves on labor from everything from hanging cabinets to call backs. Come to the August meeting and “get in the know”!
  
•  Shear Panel Solutions:  Walls do more for a house than hold up the weight of the roof.  They also have to stand strong against forces of nature that can come from any side.  Let us help you take the guesswork out of meeting IRC code requirements, satisfies the engineer of record's need for design values, make the framing crew's work go faster and smoother, and help ensure accurate installation, time after time.
