Group Insurance

builders-mutual.gifThe North Carolina Home Builders Association provides workers' compensation to eligible MCHBA members through Builders Mutual Insurance Company (BMIC). Their WorkSafe Workers' Comp is known as the industry standard and offers features such as job site evaluations to help prevent workplace accidents and injuries. BMIC experts help you create the safest working environment possible and offer ongoing education and training through Builders University classes.

Education

21st Century Building Expo & ConferenceThe North Carolina Builder Institute is the educational arm for the NCHBA. The Institute provides year-round classes for members. In addition, the annual 21st Century Building Expo & Conference offers opportunity to see new and innovative products for housing and to attend educational seminars. Seminars highlight a wide range of topics which would appeal to the builder, associate, remodeler, and the sales and marketing professional.

As a membership organization, the MCHBA is all about service. Any MCHBA member is only a phone call away from having their question answered or problem addressed by top professionals in the industry—whether it’s a code question, or difficulties with local regulations, or developing the professionalism of your business.
One of the best perks of MCHBA membership is the ability to come together four times a year and network with the best builders, remodelers, and associates at our Quarterly Meetings. People who attend these meetings report meeting people and picking up ideas that have transformed their businesses.
Whether you get active in the association or not the MCHBA provides in important service to all its members by maintaining an active presence in local, state and national legislative offices. The MCHBA government affairs committee stays very active and is working to protect the affordability of housing while enhancing the economic and social benefit to the community.

Educational Opportunities
MCHBA members can benefit from the many seminars offered throughout the year which are designed to provide you with the information and knowledge to succeed in the home-building industry.  These seminars aid understanding of aspects of the industry and several can be credited toward a professional designation.  These in-house seminars are listed throughout the year in the quarterly MCHBA newsletter, the weekly e-newsletter, and on our website.

Industry Information
Resources to keep members uupdated and informed comes in many ways at MCHBA.  The quarterly newsletter reaches members with informative news about the industry and the association.  Members receive up-to-date information about the housing industry in the weekly e-newsletter.

Governmental Affairs
MCHBA's team of governmental affairs specialists work at the local level to support pro-housing candidates and initiatives that allow HBA members to keep the housing industry strong.  We address the political and legislative challenges facing the housing industry by forming task forces to resolve issues, arranging periodic roundtables with local government officials and city staff and informing state government officials about the impact of legislation on the housing industry.

MCHBA members can take advantage of numerous opportunities to promote their business when they become an advertiser or sponsor. Whether it is marketing to consumers through the guidebooks released during the Parade of Homes and Home and Garden Expo or building business-to-business connections through event sponsorship and advertising, MCHBA works to match each member with the right fit for their needs.

Consumer Connections
Today, MCHBA boasts the largest home show in the area, a popular Home of the Year contest and an admired Parade of Homes are all held annually for residents to enjoy. Members who participate in these events receive the benefit of event promotion; web exposure, signage and the inclusion in the official publications for the events.

 Networking Opportunities
Member-networking opportunities to meet with other industry professionals throughout the year are numerous.  Networking events include: General Membership Meetings, awards banquets, Casino Night and our annual Golf Tournament.  We, at MCHBA, encourage the public and all members to actively do business with MCHBA  members and have established the "Do Business with a Member" program to encourage builder-associates relationships for the mutual benefit of both their companies and the industry.
